About This Event

Drink your morning coffee in style with a handmade pottery travel mug!

This hands-on class will lead you through the step-by-step process of building a functional to-go coffee mug that’s food, microwave and dishwasher safe (and will even fit in your car’s cup holder!).

In this 2-hour workshop, you will make your slab-built mug and customize it with stamps and other textures. You will be able to select from 3 different glaze colors at the end of the session. MakerSpace will fire and glaze your to-go mug for you and you will be notified when it’s ready for pick-up (typically 2 to 3 weeks after workshop).

Refund Policy:

  • Transfers to another class follow the same refund rules as your original date.
  • 14+ days before the first class: Full refund.
  • 7–13 days before the first class: Refund minus a 50% administrative fee.
  • Fewer than 7 days before the first class: No refunds.
  • Seat transfer: If you find a replacement who pays for and takes your seat before the first class begins, you are eligible for a full refund.

About the Instructor

Kelly Long
Kelly has been making pottery for the past 15 years. Her work is handbuilt and glazed using terra sigillata with a patina finish to enhance the textures she stamps into her clay. Kelly has taught handbuilding classes at Clayworks and throughout the Charlotte community. As much as she enjoys making pottery, she loves teaching it even more. It makes her feel like a proud mom whenever her students create something they are excited about.
