Your Topic:

You are what you eat. We all know that. But what is the scientific reasoning behind it? Over the past few decades, research has revealed that the gut does far more than digest food. It acts as a hub where the immune system, nervous system, and microbes interact, and its health can influence many parts of our body. This talk will provide an overview of how the Gut, Immunology, and Neuroscience (GIN) systems are connected, and how the gut may play a key role in shaping our overall wellbeing

Your Speaker:

Ryans science journey started with a master's degree in neuroscience in 2018, he then moved into completing a PhD in a mucosal immunology research lab. Here he explored the connections between helminth (worms) infections in the gut and the interplay between the immune and nervous system. Now, as a postdoctoral fellow, Ryan focuses on a range of gut-related topics, including dietary therapy for irritable bowel disease, and the intricate interactions between gut nerves and the immune system - Work that sheds light on how these system shape health and disease.
