As Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) become increasingly central to project delivery, more construction is now taking place offsite in factory settings—bringing greater precision, speed, and safety to the build process. In many ways, this visit to Modscape + Modbotics Melbourne facility is a construction site tour—just at an earlier stage in the value chain.

Modscape + Modbotics represents a new era of construction, where precision, speed, sustainability, and safety are brought together under one roof before modules are transported for rapid installation onsite. This tour offers CIOB members a first-hand look at how offsite manufacturing is reshaping the way we deliver high-quality buildings across Australia.

The tour will be hosted by Josh Chaplin, Modscape + Modbotics New Business Director.

Objectives of the visit:

• See firsthand how Modscape + Modbotics utilises advanced manufacturing as the robotic line manufactures each building component
• Demonstrate how MMC is applied in a real-world, factory-based environment
• Highlight the benefits of integrated design and manufacturing in improving quality, reducing waste, and shortening build times
• Show how offsite construction aligns with emerging regulations and addresses workforce and sustainability challenges
• Provide CIOB members with practical knowledge to apply MMC thinking across a variety of project types

This is a unique opportunity to see MMC in action and understand how it is reshaping the future of construction in Victoria and beyond.

This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.

Site requirements: When visiting Modscape + Modbotics, please ensure you come prepared with the long pants and closed shoes (no singlets or sleeveless tops). Modscape + Modbotics will provide a vest, hard hat, and safety glasses. Visitors must stay with Modscape + Modbotics staff member at all times. Photography is prohibited in the factory.
