This retreat provides systematic instructions on the Buddha's teaching regarding the Five Hindrances (pañca nīvaraṇa): sensory desire, ill-will, sloth-torpor, restlessness-worry, and sceptical doubt. The programme will include theoretical explanations of these concepts from Buddhist scriptures and practical meditation exercises for identifying and overcoming these obstacles.

Ajahn Cattamalo's Bio

Ajahn Cattamalo is the Abbot of Muttodaya Forest Monastery, Germany. Born in Germany, he was ordained in 1988 in the Wat Nong Pa Pong tradition of Ajahn Chah in North-east Thailand. He spent 7 years in various monasteries throughout Thailand practising and studying with different meditation teachers of the forest tradition. He then spent 13 years at Bodhinyana Monastery in Perth, Australia, during the last 5 years of which he was vice-abbot assisting Ajahn Brahm. Ajahn Cattamalo left Bodhinyana Monastery in 2008 for Germany to assist in the setting up of Muttodaya Forest Monastery.
