Walks for Women: Styal

Welcome to Freshwalks. This Walks for Women event is part of our own vibrant business community programme and women in business are welcome to join us for some invigorating networking in the great outdoors. This monthly series offers a perfect entry level option and is ideal for those with busy diaries. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company.

Route description

Styal is a village on the River Bollin near Wilmslow, Cheshire. The village is dominated by Quarry Bank Mill and much of its housing is the mill’s estate. The mill and the surrounding country park are now owned by The National Trust but the village was originally built by Samuel Greg for the workers of Quarry Bank Mill.

We’ll enjoy a glorious riverside walk as we network along the Bollin Valley and this historic country estate. Discovering the woodland landscape we plan to loop out close to the runway at Manchester Airport and back again towards the village.

Parking: The Ship has a large car park for customers. Free on street parking available nearby too, please park with consideration for local residents.

Public transport: Please take the 09:36 train from Manchester Airport to arrive in Styal 10:05 (station is 5 mins walk from our meeting location)

Pre-walk: Feel free to grab a hot drink from either El Bosc or Earlams Community Store in the village. They should both have customer toilets available.

Post-walk: The Ship, Styal.
