About This Event
A workshop promotes gender equality and personal growth through eco-friendly art, fostering shared expressions.
This self-expressive painting session centers on gender equality, personal growth, and inner potential. Participants will be asked to work on a tote bag expressing what gender equality means to them, using an ecoprint method and sustainable materials such as tote bags canvas with natural dye like turmeric or beetroot, and materials such as flowers and leaves. At the end of the workshop, participants are encouraged to share the meaning behind their art in small groups or to the wider group, fostering connection and self-expression. The workshop on Sunday, 19 April, welcomes migrant domestic workers. 。
The workshop fee includes general admission to the Green Women Festival, granting access to talks, booths, and goodie bags. The workshop will be conducted bilingually.
About Idawati Misno & Women’s Journal
Ida is a migrant worker from Indonesia, a Resolve Fellow (2023), as well as founder of Women’s Journal. A focus group dedicated to empowering women, especially from underprivileged communities, Women’s Journal offers opportunities for women to share, connect, and grow. It aims to enhance the inner potential and personal growth through creative approaches and fostering an inclusive educational environment within the community.
Ida believes that each story deserves to be heard and seen. Driven by a personal longing to create, in 2022, Ida launched Painting Your Stories, an initiative that elevates the voices of overlooked women, transforming their narratives into powerful artworks that honour the strength found in shared experiences. By fostering an authentic space for expression, she invites others to join in celebrating resilience, diversity, and beauty. Together to envision a more inclusive and compassionate world, woven together through the art of storytelling.
