About This Event

Join us for a delightful afternoon tea celebration on Mother's Day and indulge in scrumptious treats and create lasting memories.

Gladstone’s Land cordially invites you to a very special tea party indeed where our storytellers share the fascinating story of tea over a cup of tea. Or two. Or three. Enjoy an afternoon spent in one of the oldest buildings in the Mile with our special edition of the History of Tea Tour with some special additions. Also enjoy a glass of bubbly and some scones as well as our history of tea nibbles.

“Tea is one of the mainstays of civilisation in this country” writes George Orwell in 1946. But when and how did the British develop such an affinity for a drink that they had to travel half across the world to obtain? And how has tea time become such a staple of the British cultural identity?
