Welcome to Freshwalks. This event is part of our vibrant Merseyside business community programme delivered in collaboration with DJH, Bathgate Business Finance and Cummins Financial Advisers. Everyone is welcome to join us for a day of hiking and networking in the great outdoors. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company.

Route description

We’re heading to Frodsham and this scenic route will visit two of Cheshire’s most scenic prehistoric hilltop enclosures.

Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across Cheshire and the Mersey estuary from the rocky summit of Helsby Hill before crossing the valley to the tumbled ramparts of Woodhouse hilltop enclosure, high on the Cheshire Sandstone Ridge. In between, we'll stop for lunch in the Cheshire village of Alvanley.

Though the route only reaches a highest point of 142m the cumulative ups and downs across the day will make for a rewarding netwalking experience.

Parking: Complimentary customer parking.

Public transport: Those wishing to arrive by public transport can take the 08:47 train from Liverpool Lime St to arrive at Frodsham 09:16 or the 08:44 train from Manchester Piccadilly arriving at 09:30. Please note: 25-30 mins walk to our meeting location but we can help co-ordinate lifts or taxi sharing for the short 6 mins drive.

Toilets: Public toilets at start of walk and at our halfway lunch stop.

Pub lunch: We've included a quick pub lunch stop (approx 1hr) and for those of you who wish to eat, we've offered a WALK + LUNCH ticket option. Prior to the event, we will request a pre-order of a sandwich and a choice of soup or chips. You'll be able to enjoy your own packed lunch somewhere on the route and still come inside the pub for drinks though you won't be able to order food on arrival. https://whitelionalvanley.co.uk

Please note that dogs will be welcome in the bar area but not the restaurant area where we plan to eat. You'll still be able to eat in there but just away from the main group.

Post-walk: You are welcome to join other walkers for refreshments back in the bar at Best Western Forest Hills Hotel.
