Day Tour with Pat Murray of two Guinness family houses

Penny Guinness will be welcoming IGS members for a tour of her enchanting home, Leixlip Castle, Co. Kildare. Originally built on an elevated site above the River Liffey in the 12th century, the castle was renovated in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, giving it a splendid ‘Georgian Gothick’ character. Afterwards, we will visit nearby Lodge Park and Garden, an elegant Georgian house that is home to Robert and Sarah Guinness where we will also have lunch at The Barista Bike Café (Steam Museum). With its tranquil setting and locally inspired menu, Lodge Park is the perfect spot to unwind and savour the spirit of County Kildare.
