Young Irish Georgians: Curator's Tour of Benjamin Iveagh, A life in Books

The Young Irish Georgians are delighted to be hosted by Dr Nora Moroney for an exclusive tour of the exhibition Benjamin Iveagh: A life in Books. Benjamin Guinness, third Earl of Iveagh was one of the twentieth centuries most renowned book collectors. This exhibition features some of the treasures of the collection now in the care of the Office of Public Works and Marsh's Library. The exhibition is a glimpse into the literary taste of Benjamin Iveagh and the broader Guinness family. A talent for collecting rare and unique books makes this library one of the jewels of Ireland’s heritage collections. The exhibition includes eighteenth-century Irish bindings, first editions and the emergency of Gaelic printing. Dr. Nora Moroney holds a PhD in the School of English at Trinity College Dublin and completed an IRC funded postdoctoral project on the cultural history of the Benjamin Iveagh Library. The YIGS are delighted to be hosted by Dr. Moroney in the final weekend of the exhibition's run.

The meeting point for this event is at the historic Farmleigh Courtyard adjacent to the main house. Please note this tour will not include access to Farmleigh House.
