ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

Introduction to Videodance

Exploring Contemporary Dance and Movement through Space

Use of Space and Movement: Working with limitations and understanding the differences between natural and architectural space.

Composition and Color Theory: The importance of visual balance and color in storytelling.

Lighting: The use of light to create mood and highlight movement.

Music and Sound: The emotional possibilities of sound to enhance narrative depth.

Perspective and Perception: How perspective influences interpretation and artistic impact.

Thematic Coherence: Using a unified theme as a way to explore and understand ourselves.

Communication with Dancers: The value of empathy and honesty in collaboration.

Artistic and Creative References: Drawing from visual, artistic, and creative influences.

Synthesis and Restraint: The power of simplicity and focus in artistic expression.

Editing with DaVinci Resolve: Refining the narrative through editing.

About DEREK PEDROS:

Derek Pedros, born in the Canary Islands and currently based in Madrid, I am a photographer and filmmaker specializing in dance and architecture, working in a variety of industries such as advertising, tourism, architecture and fashion.

My passion is to capture movement and to use space, light, composition and color to create sober, beautiful and elegant visual work, seeking excellence through subtlety and restraint.

I seek excellence through subtlety and restraint.

The integration of dance as a major element in my work allows me to bring a powerful emotional layer that also allows me to connect, understand and empathize deeply with the subject matter I am working with.

Throughout my career, I have developed my skills as a photographer and filmmaker in parallel, as I believe these two mediums are two sides of the same coin and allow me to understand the world more deeply.

I have been fortunate to live and work in different cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Valencia, Vancouver, Miami and Sint Maarten (Caribbean) and each one has contributed to my personal and professional growth.

I currently work around the world with a wide range of clients including fashion brands, architecture studios, dance companies, villas and signature hotels.
