MEETING POINT is inside the main entrance.
The 31st May 2026 is the 110th anniversary of the Battle of Jutland, the biggest sea battle of the First World War in which 250 ships and 100,000 men took part. The cemetery overlooks the River Forth and Rosyth Dockyard, where Admiral Beatty’s battle cruiser squadron assembled before sailing to meet Admiral Jellicoe and the Grand Fleet which was based at Scapa Flow in the Orkneys. They would eventually encounter the German High Seas Fleet off the coast of Denmark.
We pay tribute to the members of the British and Commonwealth navies who are commemorated here, highlighting the stories of some of the men and boys who lost their lives in the battle, some as young as 15 and 16 years old.
The tour will last approx. 90 mins and covers about 800 metres on paths and grass on level ground.
There is no parking available on site and no on-site facilities, so please water if required.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.
Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome on site.
Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) aims to actively engage all communities with the work of the CWGC by telling the inspiring stories through education and outreach projects.
The CWGF is an independent charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (1171947) and Scotland (SC051982).
