Chicago Circle Singing: OPEN CIRCLE

Do you love circle singing? Are you ready to lead a circle of your own?

OPEN CIRCLE is a new addition to the Chicago Circle Singing family, a welcoming space for anyone to step into the center and guide the group in circle songs.

🎶 How It Works:

Using the framework of Circle Songs championed by Bobby McFerrin, over 90 minutes, we’ll pass leadership around the room. Anyone who wants to lead will sign up upon arrival. We’ll move through the list, giving as many folks as possible the opportunity to guide the group. Each leader will have a few minutes in the center to shape a circle song or vocal improvisation of their choosing.

No pressure. No judgment. Just a safe and joyful space to share and grow.

Small bits of helpful feedback and guidance will be available from Chicago Circle Singing founder Davin Youngs as desired by the participant.

Chicago Circle Singing is all about community and connection through spontaneous music—and Open Circle takes that one step further. It’s a space for shared leadership, experimentation, and mutual support.

We believe everyone has a song to share.

😰 Feeling Nervous About Leading?

You don’t have to lead to attend! Come sing, witness, support, and be inspired. Whether you step in the center or not, your voice matters.

🙋‍♀️ Who’s It For?

ANYONE! Leadership at this event will be preferenced toward those who have attended at least one Chicago Circle Singing gathering and are familiar with the flow of circle songs. However, all are welcome to attend and sing.

• Seating available throughout the session
