Powerful Mindz Inc

Powerful Mindz Inc., is a non-profit organization, learning experience for k12 Philadelphia youth, University Students and professionals statistically marginalized from mental wellness, STEAM and Africology. Tya Barnes is a Philadelphia native, educator, and STEAM advocate dedicated to culturally responsive STEAM education. Currently, Barnes directs Mindful STEAM, an Afro-centered interdisciplinary program providing Environmental Science, AI & Robotics, Animation, and Computational Mathematics education to Philadelphia communities. Through research, outreach, and curriculum development, she empowers underrepresented students in STEAM. Continuing this opportunity permits Powerful Mindz Inc.,furthering initiatives, access to university resources and STEAM Ethical impact research. Our relationship with Temple University’s Africology Studies department began with Barnes reaching out to Professor Reynaldo Anderson, and Media Arts Film professor, Eugene Haynes supporting our Animation and commercial production outreach. Together Barnes, Haynes and Anderson recruited an Africologist, historians and Pan-Afrikan scholars to implement an accurate ethical and representative STEAM learning curriculum and activities.
