About This Event

Aspiring writers of middle grade and young adult fiction are invited to join children’s author Samera Kamaleddine for a focused writing work

The session will explore how to write authentically for young audiences, alongside insights into the realities of working as a children’s author. Participants will also learn about current publishing trends and different pathways to publication within the children’s and young adult market.

This workshop is suitable for emerging and developing writers interested in middle grade and YA fiction.

About the presenter:
Samera Kamaleddine is the author of the YA novel Half My Luck (winner of the 2021 Matilda Prize) and the best-selling middle-grade novel The Sideways Orbit of Evie Hart (shortlisted for the 2024 CBCA Book of the Year Awards). She is currently working on a two-book middle-grade series scheduled for release in early 2026.
