About This Event

Because your little friends deserve big coziness. Join us for a beginner friendly knitting workshop!

Curious about knitting but don’t know where to start?

Join us for a relaxing, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the basics—from casting on to creating your first rows. No experience necessary, and all materials are provided! Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, a mindful break, or just something creative to try, this beginner-friendly session is the perfect place to start.

What you will master: How to start a Project (casting on), Knit stitch, How to cast off, And finishing off the ends of your project!

What you will create: A scarf or a beanie for your mini companions. Feel free to bring your minis from home or buy one at the store (while supplies last)

What to expect:

  • All materials included. You will be provided with Yarn, Knitting Needles, Darning Needle, Pattern, and Tote Project Bag (to bring home your project, and any extra yarn and supplies). We'll be using bright colors so you can see your stithes more easily.
  • Step by Step instructions. I will demonstrate, from start to finish, how to create the project. You will also receive videos of how to do the project in case you may not finish during the workshop.
  • No experience required! Never touched a knitting needle? Perfect. We’ll go over how to hold needles, and what works for each person. Left handed, no problem! We’ll go over how to see your stitches and you will be a pro of the knit stitch at the end of this project.

"The vibe so was so nice! I think the instruction was also really clear and helpful. It actually exceeded my expectations. I thought knitting would be harder but Liz made super easy to follow along!" - previous participant

About the Instructor:

Lizz is an avid knitter. She has several years under her belt, always looking at new techniques and patterns. She loves to bring it back to the basics and is open to learning new ways of doing the same things. She’s taught quite a few people how to start knitting and loves seeing new people join in the knitting circles.

About Sunset Commons:

Carmen and Steven started Sunset Commons to provide a space to connect and build community through arts and craft activities led by talented local artists. Inspired by a love for creativity and a desire to foster connection in the Sunset District, we envisioned a ā€œthird spaceā€ where neighbors can gather, unwind, and form meaningful relationships. Our mission is to empower self-expression, boost confidence, and offer an inclusive haven for everyone, from introverts seeking a calm environment to those enjoying health-focused traditional teas. Sunset Commons is not just a business - it’s our way of enriching the community we love and to the city we both grew up in.
