About This Event

Participants will craft a story based on a recent unpleasant encounter with a stranger.

Participants will craft a story based on a recent unpleasant encounter with a stranger.

Students will structure these experiences, called "Garden Variety Aggravation Incidents," as a practice template for eventually addressing other, more deeply traumatic stories. By working with narrative techniques like protagonist agency and comedic techniques like nicknaming in a safe classroom environment, students will learn how to maintain the emotional resonance of a trauma story without being overwhelmed by its pain. Participants will leave the class with a 5-10 minute story they can tell to an audience.

Tickets are $80 per person.

This event is at our Phoenix location at 300 West Camelback Road, steps from the uptown Light Rail stop and directly across from the Park and Ride at Third Ave and Camelback.
