Dive into the essentials of writing for screen with this one-week immersive intensive. Designed for aspiring screenwriters, this hands-on program will guide you through the core components of storytelling, from character development to script structure. Over five days, you’ll gain the skills to craft compelling characters, structure engaging narratives, and write a short film script. You’ll also have the opportunity to pitch your ideas, work on dialogue, and experience live readings of your script with professional actors, helping you bring your story to life.

Course Details:

Dates: July 27 to July 31, 2026

Location: In-person, 151 W Cordova St

*Please note: Day 1 Welcome Orientation, you will be required to attend at 8:30am - After that your schedule would be 9am to 4pm.

You Will:

• Develop compelling characters and understand their role in driving the narrative.
• Learn key elements of script structure, including the inciting incident, act transitions, and resolution.
• Write and format a short film script.
• Craft engaging dialogue and explore its role in conflict and subtext.
• Participate in live script readings with professional actors to hear your work come to life.
• Learn the art of pitching your story ideas.

You’ll Need:

• A laptop or device for writing and formatting your script.
• Notebook & pen for taking notes and brainstorming ideas.
• An eagerness to learn and develop your screenwriting craft!

Requirements

• Applicants must be 16 years old at start of intensives.
• Language requirement: Intermediate-level English (minimum requirement of IELTS 6.0).
