The Magic of Upcycling

Many of us are holding onto old garments and/or linens that we no longer wear or use and yet feel reluctant to donate or otherwise let go of. The magic of upcycling can transform these items into exciting “new” expressions.

Such items often carry stories and memories, which can be a wonderful place to start imagining a new future for them. This workshop is an opportunity to share these treasures and the stories that they carry as a first step towards creating a new vision for them. 

Sometimes all it takes is a little connection and creativity to unlock an item’s potential to honour its legacy while becoming something new and useful. 

Examples of items to bring:

• Garments and accessories that you treasure but no longer use or wear
• Special fabric or garments that were acquired abroad
• Heirloom family linens, including quilts, tablecloths etc

Important notes:

• Basic sewing experience is a plus, however is not required.

• Bring your own snacks and bag lunch. There is a nearby cafe if needed.
