About This Event

Moderator Marney Malabar leads Nina Keogh, Bob Dermer, and Sharon Hamson in a panel on memory, imagination, and childhood media.

About this Event

Step into a special panel conversation inside Mr. Dressup to Degrassi, where beloved creators from classic Canadian kids’ television reflect on the shows that shaped childhood for generations.

Moderated by Marney Malabar, Nina Keogh, Bob Dermer, and Sharon Hamson share behind-the-scenes stories and personal reflections on how children’s TV from the 1960s–80s fostered imagination, empathy, and a sense of belonging. From iconic characters to enduring cultural impact, this conversation explores why these programs continue to resonate today.

About the Exhibition

Mr. Dressup to Degrassi celebrates the golden age of Toronto’s children’s television. From 1952 to 1994, Toronto was home to groundbreaking programs that combined storytelling, innovation, and educational purpose.

The exhibition features iconic clips from beloved shows including Mr. Dressup, Today’s Special, The Friendly Giant, Polka Dot Door, and Degrassi, alongside original puppets, sets, costumes, and interactive stations. Create your own TV character, explore reimagined sets, and relax in retro “living rooms” as you revisit the shows that shaped a generation.
