Step into our speakeasy as we transport back in time for an evening of iconic drinks through the decades, inspired by the Los Angeles Public Library’s extensive cookbook archives.

TasteBound: Speakeasy invites guests into a festive atmosphere complete with 1920s-inspired spirits tastings, period music, themed bites, dancing, and more. Guests are encouraged to don Roaring Twenties attire as we toast a century of culinary history. The evening features cocktails crafted from vintage recipes found in the Library’s extensive cookbook collection, which boasts more than 40,000 culinary volumes, inside Hollywood's longest running speakeasy.

This inaugural event launches TasteBound, a new series presented as part of LFLA’s Centennial Celebration, bringing the Library’s remarkable cookbook collection to life. Drawing from more than a century of culinary writing, recipes, and food traditions preserved in one of the largest culinary collections in the country, the series celebrates how these archives reflect the cultural history of Los Angeles and the ways food connects people across time and experience.

Proceeds support the Library Foundation of Los Angeles’ Centennial Campaign goals to expand vital library programs and services and seed innovation in new technologies, spaces, and outreach that redefine the library for the 21st century.
