Practical Lambing Course 2026

Join us for a hands-on training experience ahead of lambing season with our Vets Jemma Hooper & Liz Reynolds.

We have two course options available:

Train to Lamb Practical Course – £48 ( inc VAT)
A 2 1/2-hour practical lambing session using our lambing simulators and equipment. Ideal for beginners or anyone wanting a refresher.

Train to Lamb Full-Day Essentials Course – £120 ( inc VAT)
Includes the morning practical session plus lunch and an afternoon of theory training. Ideal for beginners and experienced shepherds.

Course content includes:

• Preparing the ewe from tupping to lambing
• Post-lambing ewe care
• Neonatal lamb care
• Preparing the lambing shed
• Diseases of ewes and lambs
• Vaccinations, parasites and supplements
• Flock management for successful lambing

Lunch (pasty and pie) included for full-day delegates (by kind sponsorship from MSD)

Schedule:
9:15–9:30 Welcome coffee & refreshments
9:30–12.00 Practical lambing session
12.00-13.00 Lunch for full-day delegates, goodbye to morning learners
13:00–14:00 Preparation, ewe & lamb care
14:00–14:15 Break
14:15–15:00 Diseases, prevention and lambing success.
15:00–15:30 Q&A

Important information:
Not suitable for pregnant women due to the use of animal material.
Delegates must be 16 years or older.
Delegates need to wear practical clothing such as overalls & wellies. PPE will be provided.
Places are limited – early booking recommended.
Early bird discount of £5 on each ticket type, if booked before 10 January.
10% discount for YFC members and practice clients (one discount per booking).
