About This Event

Create your own eco-friendly masterpiece while exploring the beauty of sustainable art and natural paints

Join us for a magical evening of creativity and connection at Vizcaya’s Agriculture Night: Making your own natural paints for paper! In this immersive hands-on workshop, you’ll create using everyday pantry ingredients like starches, teas, and spices. In this hands‑on workshop, you’ll explore traditional paint‑making methods that existed long before modern, mass‑produced art supplies—creating colors that are eco‑friendly, long‑lasting, affordable, and completely unique.

🌿 Why You’ll Love This Workshop:
Personalized Artwork: Take home a beautiful, custom piece you painted yourself.
Natural Techniques: Learn how to mix your own natural pigments and paint your own sheets of handmade cardstock
Inspiration from Nature: Experiment with color made from real spices and plant materials
Engaging Experience: Transform your painted paper into a geometric kinetic mobile that moves gracefully with the air

Veronica Buitron(she/her):

Veronica Buitron is an Ecuadorian designer and educator based in Miami, specialising in natural dyes and sustainable textiles. In her practice, Veronica embraces the ritualistic process of dyeing, intertwining the scientific and historical dimensions of textile and material culture that honor the land and the knowledge of artisan communities. Since 2016, Veronica has taught natural dyes workshops to artisans in Ecuador and textile enthusiasts in Miami. In March 2020, she released her first book, which focuses on native dye plants from her home country of Ecuador.

LOCATION | This activity takes place exclusively at Vizcaya Village, the estate’s historic farm village, and does not include access to the east side of the property where the Main House and gardens are located.

AGRICULTURE NIGHTS: CONNECT & CREATE SERIES | Discover the beauty and importance of plants in our lives through “AgriCulture Nights.” This inspiring monthly series invites the community to explore their relationship with nature by engaging in creative activities like art making and cooking. Join us at Vizcaya Village to deepen your connection to the environment, learn about the uses of plants, and celebrate their significance to both people and the planet. Each session offers a unique opportunity to create, connect, and cultivate wellness in a vibrant, supportive setting.

To promote inclusion for all, Vizcaya ensures that all community programs, after-hour and weekend events for locals, feature activities that are physically accessible to all visitors. While not all areas of the estate are wheelchair accessible, community programs are purposefully located in areas without stairs or that can be accessed via a ramp.
