About This Event

Join us for a fun day moving, connecting and discussing!

Hi Everyone! 👋🏾✨

So... What's a Jamii Padel Social? Simple: You come, you learn, you play! That's it!

But this time we're collabing with The Book Club!

The Book Club is a global community built around conversation, culture, and connection.

At its core, The Book Club is about making reading cool again, building community, curiosity, and connection across borders.

We started Jamii to create a space for Black people to feel seen and at home in padel, because we weren’t seeing that around us. That mission still guides everything we do. That said, our space is about inclusion, not exclusion. We’re open to anyone who understands and supports what we’re building. If you vibe with the mission and the community spirit, you’re welcome!

What to bring?

🎾 Good shoes and a fit you feel comfortable playing in, some water and a good vibe! If you have your own racket, feel free to bring it.

🎾 If you don’t have a racket, they’re available for rental on location for €5. Padel balls are provided by Jamii Padel.

Whether you're new to padel or play regularly, you're always welcome! We pair players to maximise both learning opportunities and fun, for example, pairing pros with beginners.

We'd love for you to join! ✨

Our Jamii Padel Socials are perfect for beginners to intermediates to just move your body, connect with new people and just play.

It's a great opportunity to meet new people, learn something new and add movement to your routine.

Agenda: 16:15 - 20:00

We’ll meet at 16:15, settle in, and catch up before stepping onto the court.

From 16:30 to 18:00, we play padel, light, lively, and full of laughter.

Then we pause. Take a breath.

At 18:15, the game shifts from the court to the circle, where we dive into a discussion on belonging. We’ll explore the idea of chosen family: how we build connection, care, and identity beyond blood ties. Through reflections inspired by contemporary literature, we’ll unpack community, representation, boundaries, and what it really means to belong.

Books discussed?

  • Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin
  • All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson
  • Detransition, Baby by Torrey Peters
  • The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta
  • Friendaholic by Elisabeth Day

You don't have to read the books to discuss!

By 20:00, we’ll leave with more than just thoughts on a book, maybe a new idea, a new friend, or just that feeling of having shared something real.
