This training provides a clear, trauma-informed introduction to problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours (PSB/HSB) in children and young people. It is designed for professionals who feel uncertain, anxious, or under-confident when responding to sexualised behaviours and want practical guidance without blame, panic, or over-pathologising.

The session focuses on understanding behaviour in context, reducing risk while maintaining dignity, and responding in ways that protect all children involved.

What is developmentally expected sexual behaviour vs problematic vs harmful

The role of trauma, attachment, neurodiversity, and adversity

Why sexualised behaviour is often a communication, not intent

Risk assessment without panic or over-reaction

How adult responses can escalate or de-escalate harm

Language to use (and language to avoid)

Immediate responses: what to do in the moment

Thresholds, safeguarding responsibilities, and when to escalate

Recording concerns clearly and proportionately
