This in-person seminar covers the foundations of casino surveillance, common cheating methods, & a tour of a casino surveillance room.
What is the most effective way to monitor a casino floor? Staying one step ahead of advantage players. This comprehensive, hands-on seminar delivers in-depth instruction in casino surveillance, teaching participants precisely what to observe and monitor across some of the world’s most popular casino games.
From foundational surveillance techniques to identifying common casino scams, card readers, and marked cards, this program offers participants hands-on experience at what it takes to effectively enact a casino surveillance program.
This course provides a thorough examination of surveillance operations, reporting protocols, internal theft, procedural violations, cheating and advantage play, basic gaming strategies, biometric technologies, evidence handling, civil liability considerations, detection and prevention methods, surveillance equipment, management practices, and regulatory compliance.
In addition, participants will visit a local casino surveillance room to observe firsthand the practical application of modern surveillance techniques in one of the world's gambling hubs.
Seminar Topics Include:
- Surveillance #101: Discover the basic knowledge principles of working in a surveillance operation, including camera coverage, camera usage, gaming reviews, phone etiquette, ethics, video evidence, daily logs, and more.
- Basic Strategy: Perfecting basic strategy helps a surveillance professional identify advantage players and potential scams.
- Visual Awareness: What you see is not always what happens. Learn to view things from different angles and with a broader perspective in this interactive session.
- Investigation using Modern Day Technologies: As technology evolves, so must the surveillance professional. Discuss use cases for facial recognition, access control, license plate recognition, and how technology is changing the way surveillance operates.
- Internal Theft: The average organization loses approximately $12 per employee per day. Learn how to utilize technology and reports to identify internal theft and prevent it.
- Modern Slot Threats and Promotional Scams: Slot scams, advantage play, and opportunists take many forms. Discuss the different ways casinos are being beaten and taken advantage of at the slot machines.
- Top Casino Scams: Discover the top table games scams a surveillance team might encounter.
- Player Breakdowns: Player breakdowns are required to determine if the play was legitimate. Learn the key indicators to look at when conducting a thorough player evaluation.
Program participants will also cover topics, including false shuffle, marked cards, blackjack advantage play, and how to hire and train a surveillance team.

William Joseph, Vice President of Security & Surveillance, Westgate Resort & Casino
William Joseph has been the VP of Security & Surveillance at Westgate Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada for the last 10+ years. Prior to working at the Westgate Resort and Casino, William worked in surveillance and surveillance training for the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
William has been in the gaming industry for over 35 years.
Registration Details
1. In the event a course is canceled, registrants will be notified as soon as possible and receive a full refund of their registration fee.
2. A service fee of twenty percent (20%) will apply to all participant-initiated cancellations received seven or fewer days prior to the event.
3. All cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing. Refunds granted for credit card charges will be credited to the original account charged. No refunds will be given in the event of “No Shows.” Refunds may take up to 3 weeks for processing.
