Forest Movement Europe (FME) gathering 2026 - Finland

In May 2026, forest campaigners from across Europe (and a few friends from further afield) will meet for the 32nd annual gathering of the Forest Movement Europe. Each year we meet in a different European country, and this year we meet in Finland, hosted by Luonto-Liitto (Finnish Nature League) and Suomen luonnonsuojeluliitto (Finnish Association for Nature Conservation).

The gathering is open to all NGOs, activists and academics who protect forests, whether you have been to an FME before or not. We will spend 3 days learning about each other’s work, hearing about the situation in different European countries and globally, and building common strategies and solidarity to defend forests.

The agenda will follow (developed together with participants), but the general running order is as follows:

4 May: arrival (from afternoon onwards)

5 May: FME gathering day 1 : discussions (all day)

6 May: FME gathering day 2: discussions (all day)

7 May: FME gathering day 3: discussions (half day) + afternoon walk in the forest to learn about the local ecosystem & the work of local forest campaigners & activists

8 May: departure
