Exams, Treatment Planning and Successful Composites – For Dental Therapists

This one day course is designed to increase skills and confidence of dental therapists. It will cover; how to complete thorough dental examinations within scope, a recap on FGDP radiography guidelines, caries diagnosis and the use of AI. There will be case-studies to help practice treatment planning and diagnosis skills.

The Afternoon will cover practical aspects and theory, relating to; bonding, isolation and rubber dam usage for predictable, long lasting composite restorations.

- Know how to and feel confident completing adult and child dental examinations (within scope)

- Recap on FGDP Radiography guidelines, caries diagnosis and the use of AI

- Treatment planning from examinations you have completed

- Referral pathways for out-of-scope treatment

- Recap tooth isolation and rubber dam usage

- Learn the theory and hands-on protocols for the placement of a posterior composite in a simple and expedient manner

Paul Abrahams has been the principal owner of Smilemore Dental Care in St John’s Wood for over 30 years - now part of PortmanDentex – and is also a Clinical Engagement Lead for PortmanDentex. He is a Past President of the BACD and a founding member and ex-board member of the BAPD. Paul has a particular interest and expertise in digital dentistry and was one of the first dentists in the UK to adopt an iTero scanner. He has also incorporated chairside milling and printing workflows into his everyday practice. With a mantra of “the only constant is change” he believes education should be fundamental to every dentist’s progression. He is a co-founder of the REAL Dentist Academy and lectures both in the UK and internationally.
