Differing, Not Disagreeing: An Improv Cooperative Workshop

Each scene between two players is the chance to uncover a new pattern — what sets them apart and how they can still exist together. But difference can often slide into disagreements - yes! no! definitely! never! - that feel stale rather than fresh. In this workshop we will discover differences while finding other ways to react.

Alex began taking classes in 2007 in the Keith Johnstone narrative-focused tradition and later discovered american longform. Since then he's danced between these different perspectives.He has taught classes in the US with the Hideout (Austin TX) and PIT (NY, NY), across Germany including at the Karlsruhe Improvisation Festival, training the trainers in the Maestro format in Slovenia and the UK and as invited artist at the Courtyard Playhouse Dubai. He has also taught in Poland, Finland, and France. Alex co-founded Open Heart Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne and was the artistic director of the Würzburg Festival for several years.
