FRENCHY AND THE PUNK

French-born singer, keyboardist, percussionist, Samantha Stephenson, hails from a dance and art background having studied ballet, modern and hip hop as well as sculpture. Guitarist Scott Helland comes from an entirely different background, the American Hardcore Punk scene of the 80’s. Helland was a founding member and bassist of the legendary western Massachusetts hardcore band, Deep Wound that he formed with J Mascis and Lou Barlow now of Dinosaur jr. Helland still joins his old band mates on bass from time to time at clubs and arenas around the World.

Frenchy and the Punk's relentless touring, which has amounted to nearly 1500 shows, has brought them around the US, Canada, Europe and West Africa. Together Samantha and Scott’s compelling stage presence and spellbinding delivery creates an infectious and mesmerizing wall of sound that pushes the boundaries of what two people can do, what Post-Punk.com calls “…a wonderful alchemy of complementary energies.”

Their 2024 full length album, Midnight Garden, garnered rave reviews with favorites Hypnotized, Like In A Dream and the title track, Midnight Garden. Their new single, "Not Under Your Spell," released on October 31, 2025, via Distortion Productions, is available on Bandcamp and major streaming platforms.
