Copy Your Clothes Class at Abakhan Mostyn

In this class you will learn how to create a sewing pattern by copyin an existing garment you love. Using the garment's shape and measurements, you'll draft a custom pattern directly from the finished piece without taking it apart. This technique alloes you to recreate your favourite clothing item again and again with confidence.

Skill level : No skills required.

Please note: this is not a block-making class. The focus is on copying an existing garment rather than drafting patterns from standard blocks.

Please bring in something simple as this is a starter class. A top, a shift dress, a skirt or a simple pair of trousers.

Requirements:

• Pattern paper with spots
• Pencil
• Sharpie pen

This class is ideal for sewists who want to better understand garment shapes and fit while building practical pattern-making skills.

I have over 20 years of working as a professional dressmaker, working from my studio in Prestatyn, North Wales. I specialised in Bridal and Aerial wear, so from satin to stretch. I decided during the lock down that it was time to shut up the studio and concentrate on my teaching. I love passing on my skills to others, which I’ve been doing for around 16 years and I’ve also enjoying learning a few things from my students!

My classes are designed to be fun as well as informative, giving you as much knowledge as I can and helping to further your sewing skills. It’s all about time and practice plus a few handy cheat tips! I love dressmaking and I’m passionate about teaching, so hopefully the 2 combined gives you a great source to draw from, whether it’s making your own trousers to putting in zips.
