Crisscrossing America, trying to become the first British comedian to perform in all 50 states, Joel spent a decade sharing the stage with his comedy heroes, including the late Robin Williams.

But in 2008, a show in Tennessee went horribly wrong and, with 10 States remaining, Joel's American adventures came to an abrupt end. He returned to England and, without thinking about it too deeply, bought a canal boat and soon started creating a show about it - 'Angry Boater.'

18 years on, approaching 60 years old and still floating around, Joel was discovered by Channel 4, becoming an instant hit on the award-nominated series, 'Narrow Escapes'. The programme documented Joel's adventures including, in the Season finale, a narrowboat sea-voyage in the middle of the night.

If you are boaty, or boat-curious or whether you can't imagine anything worse, Angry Boater is a polished evening of comedy and stories unlike anything you'll experience again. Along with the joys, perils and madness of a life afloat with hypertension, during the two hour show, Joel lifts the lid on several of his celebrity encounters (including chancing upon one of the biggest bands in the world and a very awkward towpath encounter with a disgraced Hollywood A-Lister).
