About This Event

This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the role and duties of not-for-profit board members/directors.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

This Board Governance training workshop is aimed at artists, creatives and arts workers, including prospective, new and existing board members, looking to strengthen their role on the Board.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

This workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of the role and duties of not-for-profit board members/directors, and governance best practice. Through real-world case studies and interactive discussion, this course empowers you to understand your responsibilities as a board member.

The course covers:

  • the roles and responsibilities of charity trustees/board directors under Company Law and Charity Law;
  • board meetings;
  • board papers;
  • reviewing the board;
  • board relationships;
  • conflicts of interest;
  • governance and management;
  • and the Charities Governance Code.

*A limited number of training fees bursaries are available for freelance artists, arts & creative workers, who are new or existing board members in the arts and creative sectors, to cover the cost of this course. Places will be offered based on eligibility ​and on a first come first served basis. Please outline your request for a fees bursary on our Training Requests Form.
