Beyond the Code: Identity, Income & Impact in Social Work

Social workers are trained to follow a code. The Code of Ethics. The moral code of do no harm. The unspoken code of being the steady one, the strong one, the selfless one. And somewhere along the way, many of us begin to believe that if we ask for more rest, more money, more boundaries, or more visibility, we are breaking that code. We feel guilty for wanting sustainability. We question whether earning well compromises our values. We silence our exhaustion because being tired feels more ethical than being well-resourced. And so we get stuck. Not because we lack skill or integrity, but because we have fused our identity with a version of the helper that leaves no room for expansion.In this event, we will not only discuss the codes that live within us, but break popular myths about what you can do, what you cannot do, and what you actually need to succeed as a social worker without abandoning yourself.Although in celebration of SW month, this event is open to all clinicians in helping professions.
