About This Event

Village Pavilion Present Arborist with support from Serin & BP Walker

Belfast's Mark McCambridge played his first show as Arborist supporting James Yorkston, follow up support slots have included Low, Cat Power, Echo and The Bunnymen and Guy Garvey.

Attracting the attention of critics with the debut single 'Twisted Arrow' with Kim Deal of The Breeders, and albums 'Home Burial' and 'A Northern View' both receiving glowing praise from the likes of The Guardian “instant classic. ★★★★” MOJO “…devastatingly bleak…upliftingly beautiful. ★★★★” and Uncut 8/10.

With BBC 6music plays from Cerys Matthews, Cillian Murphy, Gideon Coe and Steve Lamacq who called single Taxi, “one of those records that makes you immediately stop what you’re doing.” An Endless Sequence of Dead Zeros, his 3rd LP, was released in April 2023 and won the prestigious Northern Ireland Music Prize. It was recorded in Spacebomb Studios in Richmond, Virginia alongside producer Matthew E White and with the legendary Spacebomb Houseband, it is a record full of melody and lush arrangements. The album campaign concluded with a rousing BBC 6Music Session live on Riley & Coe.

Recently honoured with a Fellowship from the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University in Belfast - alongside author Caoilinn Hughes and playwright Conor McPhearson – 2026 looks set to be a seminal year for the Irish artist with new album, 'Looking for Love' due for release soon.

Support from Serin, a Leeds-based queer/trans songwriting/folk duo, made up of Wren Boon and Lucy Bacon. They combine vocal harmonies, powerful violin melodies and gentle guitar to make a sound which has been described as 'summat a bit different’. They perform original and traditional songs from the UK and US, speaking to themes such as gender/queerness, birds and home/belonging. Fresh on the Leeds scene, having shared the stage with folk wonders including Melbourne Duo Charm of Finches, and English folk musician George Sansome, thepair released their debut EP in Autumn 2025.

“Captivating [...] enchanting” - BBC Introducing Leeds.

“I hope they soon produce a record as their lyrics are worth repeat listening […] Both performers showed themselves very accomplishedsingers with skillful harmonisation.” – Leeds Living

“Very graceful, very beautiful [...] Giving those lovely folk tingles of warmer months.” - Get in Her Ears Soho Radio Show

and B.P Walker who will be performing new material that he hopes will exist by this event. He has assured us that he probably will not have yet mastered the charity shop crystal flute.
