About This Event

Featuring a projected light show, immersive sound, and the chance to explore Calverley Old Hall after dark. Free entry - all are welcome.

Join us on either Wednesday 11 or Thursday 12 February 2026 for a free, informal evening event at Calverley Old Hall, featuring a projected light show on the Chapel, immersive sound, and the chance to explore the restored medieval manor house after dark.

A short animated light show will be projected onto Calverley Old Hall. The film has been created by artist Dawn Feather using drawings and animations made by members of the public during our September 2025 Open Day. The film is accompanied by an audio soundscape created by Bradford College students, developed with creative facilitators Carolyn Eden and Ed Heaton.

The film will run on a continuous loop throughout the evening.

Visitors are welcome to:

  • Watch the projection and listen to the soundscape outside on the Chapel
  • Visit the Great Hall for hot drinks and refreshments (available for a donation)
  • Explore the rest of the medieval manor house at their own pace, including the Painted Chamber

This relaxed, welcoming event offers a unique opportunity to experience Calverley Old Hall illuminated and animated after dark.

What to expect

  • Outdoor projection on the Chapel
  • Immersive light and sound experience
  • Self-guided exploration of Calverley Old Hall
  • Informal, drop-in friendly atmosphere

Good to know

  • Free event – no ticket required but we recommend registering your interest so we can keep you informed about the event.
  • Suitable for all ages
  • The film will be viewable outdoors — please dress for the weather
  • Hot drinks available for a donation

Getting here

There is no parking on site, the building is in the centre of Calverley, on Woodhall Road, so we encourage visitors to walk if they are local or to use Leeds and Bradford’s excellent public transport to travel to the event. If you need to drive, there is ample on street parking in the surrounding area. Please park considerately for our neighbours.

Accessibility

Please note that due to the nature of our historic buildings and places, some may not be suitable for those with limited mobility or certain disabilities.

Calverley Old Hall has been designed to be as accessible as possible, although it is still a historic building with restrictions. There is level access into the main building, the pathway from the road is a combination of gravel and paving slabs and the film will be viewable from this pathway.

In the Landmark, a lift is available providing access to all floors. The first floor is unsuitable for non-ambulant guests because the lift does not operate in the event of a fire or power cut. Visitors must make sure they can always evacuate themselves safely via the stairs. If you require lift access, please let us know via the registration on Eventbrite. On the day, please alert staff at the front entrance on arrival who will be happy to direct you towards lift access.

We do all we can to enable access wherever possible; if you have any access concerns that you’d like to discuss before visiting, please contact our Booking Enquiries team on 01628 825925 or booking@landmarktrust.org.uk. The Booking Office is open Mon to Fri - 9am to 5pm.

Donating to The Landmark Trust

As a charity, the Landmark Trust relies on donations to support our work. We couldn’t have rescued over 200 Landmarks without the support of people like you.

Your support saves historic buildings in danger of being lost forever and makes them available for all to experience and enjoy.

Your donation could help train the craftspeople needed to restore buildings like this, or it could offer opportunities to young people to experience history first-hand, through our open days and free stays for study groups.

Thanks to National Lottery Players, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, who have made this project and this event, possible.
