Amster Yard Sounds 2026 kicks off its jazz program with an exceptional concert by pianist Álvaro Torres and his trio, delivering an evening of original compositions infused with creativity and energy, alongside Sean Conly on the double bass and Nasheet Waits on the drums.

Curated by acclaimed Spanish pianist Marta Sánchez, this program celebrates the vibrant dialogue between contemporary jazz and artistic innovation.

Álvaro Torres, a Spanish pianist and composer based in New York, trained at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. His work blends contemporary jazz, improvisation, and a strong classical foundation. With several albums released on labels such as Sunnyside Records and Fresh Sound New Talent, Torres is a regular collaborator with leading musicians on the New York scene. His music is distinguished by melodic sensitivity and a bold exploration of new sonic textures.
