About This Event

Join Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival in a day of expert-driven educational workshops catered to the solo-theatre performer!

This event includes career training from industry professionals that is designed to give a boost to solo performers with panels and workshops including:

The Art of Creating the One Person Show - Jessica Lynn Johnson

10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ON ZOOM

In this workshop, Jessica Lynn Johnson leads participants through the art of creating the one person play using meditation, writing prompts, and solo performance techniques.

How To Be Brave, Moving & Hilarious - Terrie Silverman

1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. IN PERSON

This workshop will guide you to develop an idea or story for the stage, so that the writing is performative: urgent, active and powerful, while mining the humor, irony and absurdities.

Creative Play - Kirsten Laurel Caplan

Experience the support and power of creative play in community. This is a gift you give to yourself. Wear comfortable clothes to move in, bring a pen and paper, and together we will make those creative sparks fly.

Tuition is FREE, however a donation of $5-10 is suggested

Founded in 1993 by Adilah Barnes and Miriam Reed, the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival holds the distinction of being the oldest Annual Solo Festival in Los Angeles celebrating powerful women performers. A critically-acclaimed international festival, LAWTF has produced close to 700 extraordinary solo artists from around the globe. These multicultural and multi-disciplined performers represent diverse disciplines as theatre, dance, storytelling, performance art, performance poetry, spoken word, mime, music and song.

All in all, this is the most information you will find about the production of solo performance at one time in one place. Come out, support and enjoy!

This project is made possible in party by a grant from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
